Adam J. Powell

Adam J. Powell is a research associate in the Department of Theology and Religion at Durham University (UK) and an affiliate of Durham’s Institute for Medical Humanities. His research seeks to understand the bio-cultural processes involved when individuals and communities use religious resources to construct resilient identities and to make sense of crises and anomalous sensory experiences. He is the author of Hans Mol and the Sociology of Religion (Routledge 2017) as well as Irenaeus, Joseph Smith, and God-making Heresy (Fairleigh Dickinson University Press 2015).
