Mark Speece

Mark Speece is adjunct Associate Professor at the College of Management Mahidol University (CMMU), adjunct research faculty at Thammasat Business School (TBS), and adjunct in the DBA program at Dhurakij Pundit University, all in Bangkok. Prior to recently semi-retiring and returning to Bangkok, he taught in Kuwait (seven years), Alaska (ten years), and Southeast Asia (sixteen years, mostly Thailand, also Singapore and Hong Kong). He is embedded in Thai culture through his twenty-six year marriage to a Thai, a recently retired small business owner / operator, now writing her doctoral dissertation on Kuan Im spirituality among women small business owners in Bangkok. He has a PhD in Marketing from University of Washington, and a PhD in Middle East Economic Geography from University of Arizona. He also holds an MA in Buddhist Studies from University of Sunderland (UK). One of his main research areas now is Buddhist economics and Buddhist business ethics, particularly as associated with Thailand’s Buddhist reform movements.
