Garry Trompf

Dr Garry Trompf is Emeritus Professor in the History of Ideas, and Adjunct Professor in Peace and Conflict Studies, at the University of Sydney, Australia. He was formerly Professor of History at the University of Papua New Guinea; Head of the Department of Religious Studies at the University of Sydney; Visiting Professor to the Universities of California, Utrecht, Edinburgh, Warsaw and to the Carl Jung Institute, Zurich. His books of relevance to his article are Cargo Cults and Millenarian Movements (editor) (Berlin: De Gruyter, 1990) and The Gnostic World (snr co-editor) (New York: Routledge 2018).
