Spyros Petritakis is a Ph.D. Candidate in Art History at the University of Crete, in Greece. He obtained his Masters Degree in History of Art from the same University, after graduating from the History and Archaeology Department of the University of Ioannina, in Greece. His studies were supported by several scholarships, which allowed him to attend courses in art history at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University in Munich and later in Berlin, where he now researches for his dissertation. He has also pursued music theory, piano and composition studies in Greece (Ioannina, Rethymno, Athens) and later in Berlin. His research interests and publications include the intersection between painting and music as well as German and East European Symbolism
