The Charmed Life
The Charmed Life opened its doors at Main and 2 nd Streets in downtown Richmond in March of 2003, aiming to be a “one-stop supplier for all ritual needs. Recognizing that gathering the supplies needed for pagan ritual often required members of this minority religion to visit many different secular stores and still be sometimes unsatisfied. The Charmed Life was established to meet the need for a true pagan supply shop. In 2005, the store moved to a location further up Main Street, just a block off the campus of VCU.
The Charmed Life stocks items for a variety of pagan needs – candles, incense, books, oils, herbs, clothing, jewelry, décor, and more. Many of the items in stock are handmade, often by local artisans. The proprietor also frequently makes the store’s property available for services to the local pagan community, including classes and workshops, and on-site Tarot readings. A unique feature of the shop is its maintenance of its own Book of Shadows – a pagan resource book. It features spells, ritual liturgy, essays, and activities. The owner, who carries out day-to-day operations of the store, maintains a rapport with her customers and will order into stock items suggested by her customers.
