Rejoice Christian Center Ministries

Gerald Fountain Sr. reports that he heard and felt God’s call on his life to minister in 1989. According to the church’s history, Pastor Fountain wanted to be fully committed to God, and so he joined the Faith Landmarks Bible Institute located in Richmond . During the early 1990s he was ordained and licensed at New Life Baptist Church in Richmond , Virginia under Pastor Raleigh James. While at New Life Baptist Church , Rev. Fountain was given the position of Assistant Pastor of New Life.

Fountain and his wife Dorothy gathered in their home with a group of believers in July, 1992, for the first time. The group, predominately African American, called itself and is still known as Rejoice Christian Center Ministries. The vision of Rejoice Christian Center is to “establish God’s kingdom in the earth through ministering of God’s Word.” The group’s first Sunday service was held in the Fountain’s family room on August 9, 1992. After meeting in the home of the Fountains for two more services, the group was able to find a meeting place for Sunday morning services in the auditorium of John Rolfe Middle School on Messer Road . Early in 1995 they moved to Montrose Elementary School on Williamsburg Road . While at Montrose Elementary School the congregation purchased four acres of property in eastern Henrico County on Darbytown Road . Then in June of 1997, Rejoice Christian Center moved again, this time to Byron Street . While at Byron Street , the church opened Rejoice Christian Center Day Care. A building fund campaign was launched to pay off the church’s land purchase. On Sunday, June 4, 2006, the Rejoice Christian Center held its first service in the new building on Darbytown Road . Currently today Rejoice Christian Center has 50 members and the church seats 125.

Rejoice Ministries sponsors many ministries such as the Healing Clinic. This ministry is held on the fourth Sunday of each month following the worship service.
