Michal Pagis


Michal Pagis is Assistant Professor of Sociology at Bar-Ilan University, Israel. She studies the growing popularity of techniques of self-formation and transformation in contemporary post-industrial culture, from meditation practice to life coaching. Her published papers have appeared in journals such as Social Psychology Quarterly, Ethnography and Qualitative Sociology. She is currently completing a book manuscript entitled “Embodying Selves: Vipassana meditation and the Micro-sociology of Experience.”
