John Paul Healy

John Paul Healy is a Lecturer in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Charles Sturt University. John is also an Associate Researcher with the Public and Contextual Theology Strategic Research Centre (PACT). John’s research into Siddha Yoga was propelled by an early personal experience of the movement in the early 1980s, and when gaining a PhD scholarship, he took the opportunity to look back into the movement from an academic viewpoint. John’s Book Yearning to Belong: Discovering a New Religious Movement explores individuals personal experience of the early movement. Research interests include the Sociology of Religion; New Religious Movements; Guru-Disciple Relationships; Social Work Education, Ability, Aging, Music; and Qualitative Methodology.
