Jonathan Andelson

Jonathan Andelson is Rosenfield Professor of Social Science (Anthropology) and director of the Center for Prairie Studies at Grinnell College. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Grinnell College in 1970 and his PhD from the University of Michigan in 1974. He has been teaching at Grinnell since 1974. His primary research interest is intentional communities in general, with particular attention to Iowa’s Amana Colonies, on which he has published extensively. He is a past president and board member of the Communal Studies Association.
