Nan Deane Cano

Nan Deane Cano, IHM is an educator and author living and working in Los Angeles. Her engagement with the Immaculate Heart Community of California extends over 50 years, including matriculation at Immaculate Heart College and her current position on the Board of Trustees of the Community. She is one of the authors of the Community tenets: The Spirit that Calls Us.

Her published works include articles in many periodicals, including the New York Times and the Los Angeles Times. Cano’s books include Acts of Light, a study of the Martha Graham dance company, published by the University Press of Florida; The Three Graces, a novel; and Take Heart: Growing as a Faith Community with Paulist Press in 2016, the history of the Immaculate Heart Community from 1848 to the present.
